Payoji Maine Raam Ratan Dhan Payo: A Translation
Came across this beautiful Bhajan by Meera Bai, while attempting to dance/perform/prepare for the upcoming Kathak exam. It had Lata Mangeshkar's voice and a little "old-song" feel to it. Neverthless, saw the dance choreographed by my teacher/Guru Alpanaji and was amazed by the simplicity and the beauty of her choreography. Really loved it.
This post is an attempt to translate what I understood from this Bhajan. Maybe it helps me perform better or give expressions while performing it.
I am a self professed fan of Krishna and I love him to every bit (i can paint only him). So could relate to this song in some way, also Meera is my favourite person's name (my grandma). The story of Meera Bai has always intrigued me. Her selfless love is something which is not easy to find. Translation:
paayoji maine ram ratan dhan paayo: I have got the love of my beloved lord Krishna
Vastu amolik dee mera sataguru, kripaa kar apnaayo:Lord has given me a priceless thing, he has accepted my worship and love
janam janam ki punji payee, jag mein sabhi khovayo:In the form of his love and acceptance i have got the treasure of life-time and i have lost everything else to this world
kharcha na khute chor na lute, din din badath savaayo:The treasure of his love doesn't decrease by spending and no thief can ever steal it, with each passing day it only increases
sat ki naav khevatiya satguru, bhavsagar tar'aayo:The boatman of my life is Lord Krishna and with his help i have crossed oceans
meera ke prabhu giridhar nagar ,harash harash jas gaayo:My lord is Krishna and i sing his praises to everyone with lot of joy
