The Dark (K)night

I am not a Hollywood buff,rather i can avoid Hollywood movies at any cost and any time.I blame them for the themes they come up with for making movies,which i can't relate to. Every other movie has someone attacking earth (most of the cases aliens), then there is some supernatural act in play or there is some weird creature who has inhabitated planet earth and is going to destroy it.Then there are vampires and werewolves who are habitats of earth and are fighting with each other for some or the other reason!!No doubt the movies are excellent technologically and are very logical.There are movies like transporter,Die hard etc which are just so much taxing to watch. Harry potter series is a serious blunder as far as the book is concerned, they just couldn't get the gist in three hour.But then you would question as to why soo many of them have i seen...the reason is simple...I HAVE TO!! cos as a part of my commitment to A we decided to indulge in each other's intreset,so if he can take salsa classes with me, i have to go back and watch all the underworld series with him!!I can narrate the history of vampires and the story of the underworld.

I had to accompany A to a movie on his fave Batman. I never read Batman comics as a kid.Those comic strips were too gross for me.But movie i had to see...the Dark Knight! So far so good! When i see a Hollywood flick i expect it to be logical (unlike bollywood movies) and can be explained.So this batman movie i expected to be completely logical! As the movie started playing i had my doubts (considering that movie was a box office success)!The Joker really bemused me.I didnt understand him.Why was he doing what he was! Burning heap of notes,blowing up the hospital, bombing the police station, poisoning the mind of the twin face...why...just for the heck of it.Then the batman, why didnt he kill Joker,when he could have? Why doesn't he save his love intrest?

My colleague in D worships Batman, i actually happen to discuss the movie with him and i did question him. He explained me why Batman doesn't kill Joker and how he missed saving his love interest...sounded valid...

Still missing was erratic behaviour of Joker...but the day i switched on the television on the 27th of November and saw those people firing at the innocent, the first thing that came to my mind was Joker...no demands, no grudges...just plain killing and destruction.

So if the Joker exists...the Batman also should!?

is it so easy to kill?!take a gun and shoot...just shoot anyone, whoever comes to your sight. You don't know who the person is rather its just immaterial...all you need to do is shoot, cos you have a gun, cos you think you are fighting for cause,just kill!!,so what u are 21, so what you are graduate and have exceled in your studies... you don't have to use your brain, all u need to understand is KILL and to effect of nothing!! and after killing so many at that young age you die, you don't think you have done anything wrong, you can't be, the almighty has brought you in this world for the cause to kill...!!seriously!!

1. Brida - From the Paulo Coelho book. She is a witch and deep down somewhere, I feel I am a witch too. The lessons she learns on faith, soulmates, love, passion, belief are realistic and put together in a manner which makes you ponder.

So this post is to people who have been there for me and have made difference to my life!

rayshma: She is THE reason of me been what i am today,professionally as well as personally!i was new to mumbai when i met her and use to feel and look like a lost soul!From her i learned how to be politically correct, how to give good spanking without making others feel bad about it, how to write stinkers, how to network ,how to handle difficult situations,how to follow up , how to enjoy,how not to crib,how to love food and so on and so forth! Had best of my times with her while watching Hindi movie,eating out , having coffee and apple cake and planet m barista,getting high, laughing over at almost nothing,ganging against people like oz,mithrani,AH!So much so that i couldn't imagine that she would just go away one day to US and leave me alone here! She means so much to me and whenever i am in a fix i think if reshma would have been here what would she have done and i get the solution to my problem! sounds filmy*most of my posts do!*but very true!

V,KJ &M: I have to write about the three togther,cause if we four are not together we feel something is missing! They are very much the reason that i enjoy my work at D!

V:he is king of comedy!can pull out jokes and bring smile onto your face even in the worst of the situations when a hearty laugh is miles away! he can just say a line and everything eases out like there was no trouble at all,you just needed to smile! People confide in him a lot,don't know why,but ya people do!His understanding about women in general is good *he claims to have more than 10 affairs -he is married though to a bong girl after going around with her for almost 10 yrs*!he means a lot to us - we can depend on him for almost anything,he is just a phone call away!

KJ: She is a kid with a pure heart...so pure that i doubt if she has any secrets in her life or whether can she ever keep a thing secret in her life...so much so that even if kj has to go to loo, everyone in our corridor will come to know of it..LOL! She is the life ! Always giving us enough reasons to pull her legs,tease and make fun of and still not feel bad about it!Professionally i really appreciate the amount of efforts she puts in and so does D...she got spot award*best employee award* as a recognition of all her efforts!

M:He is gujju to the core!!Snacks is spelt as snakes and drop is spelt as drope in his gujju dictionary! And for all this he pays a heavy price...getting pulled at every now and then! but when it comes to xls and numbers he is just amazing and impressive. The magic xls sheet that he creates for all our expenditures is just too confound and i really can't make head our tail out of it! *he is a CA and we make him do MIS and invoicing*If i visit orkut twice a day then he visits moneycontrol like 10 times a day and saving money is his motto! but behind all this is a person who is very caring ,understanding and helpful! *for reshma- he is married to a bong as well*

So when these three meet the fourth one thats me...the hell breaks loose and we have a ball of a time,4 very different us pulling each others legs,making sarci comments,eating food,visiting CCD,chandigarh trip...all in all a complete dhamal!

Mrids: We have seen soo much together that we have started taking each others presence in life for granted! and ya we pay the price for that! but so be it...

Sheetal: My all weather friend*literally* since my school days!she is more like an elder sister to me!She is my problem solver*thats why she is so good at coding*!i go to her with all my problems and she has a solution! She is brains with beauty *she looks like Madhuri Dixit and guys use to die to see her!so much so it use to get difficult moving around the city with her* and a amazingly warm person!

Priyanka: She is another mad friend,who means a lot!People like her are really few...guess they don't manufacture such lot anymore!The attitude,girth and the poise is worth a watch! She thought me how to be honest to one self and how to be rooted all the time!

Then there are my engg college frens - trupti,sonal and kavita have hardly met them since ages! but still whenever we meet in some permutation combination there is still lot to share!Miss them a lot!

And i am still alive!

this is one of tags assigned to me by none other than rayshma!She gave permission to add some mrich masala,but this one is spicy enough,so this one is dished out san spices, as in no exaggerations!

It sends a chill down my spine even as i write it almost one half year after the incident occured.It was Diwali time and coz Diwali is all about get-togethers and family we decided to travel to Bhopal, where my in-laws are based. Bhopal is not well connected to mumbai on flight route,only jet and ic fly to Bhopal, and tickets rates at diwali time were well outside our budget.Hence we booked a train ticket to Bhopal, trains were also over crowded so ashu booked on some arbit train which leaves Mumbai at 4.30 pm from Lokmanya tilak terminus (kurla) and reaches Bhopal early morning. We had to leave on thursday.

And that year SRK starrer don was to be released during diwali and the cult had tied up with one of the leading operator and my client for mobile promotion of the movie.I was in office early that day,knew it would be a bad day as the issues on the promos were getting bigger and bigger - ads not getting approved,copy not in line with the brief,print ad getting cancelled and so on and so forth.Had decided to leave office by 2,so that i reach in time and avoid getting delayed because of Diwali rush.But as expected,had a concall coming up *unplanned one* frm the big boss and THE client - and it was all about giving a nice thrashing to carrot,AH,MO and last but not the least me!I managed to leave the call half-way and rushed out to get the first cab to station,it was 3.50!

Mumbai traffic was at its peak!Slow moving traffic,signal not working,accident on the way...and time was flying by as though it had wings!Panick calls to ashu continued endlessly,didnt know what to do! it was 4.30 and i was 5 mins away from the station.Ashu suggested that i go back to work and take the flight next morning*at watever cost* to bhopal,though i had my doubts on the availability of tickets!

I rchd kurla terminus and i could see the train moving out of the platform.I called ashu and asked him to pull the chain!Ashu refused! Ah! wat a time to follow values!well i thought i was smart enough!i jumped out of the cab paid him some money,didnt bother to check how much the fare came to...and started running...well guys only kajol and kareena run after the moving train and get to meet srk and shahid...in reality its bit different!

Two guys came with thier rick and said "madam aap hume 600 rupaiya dena,hum train pakdwa dege"!without thinking*actually thinking it will be cheaper than spending lots on the flight* i hopped into their auto and they said "madam paisa ready rakho" i could see the train coming to a halt...i thought i will give ashu a surprise!! i pulled out Rs.600 from my wallet and handed over to one of the guy!!he turned back to me and said "aapne to Rs.200 hi diya hai"...and i saw what he did! and that is when i realised ...i am dead...my battery was low...one side was the train other side was jhuggis *small township*!my life was in hand of these two guys!Anything could have happened and very easily,they could have robbed me,raped me,killed me...almost anything...the train started moving again and i was still in the auto...

I called up ashu and said "ashu pls save me...i am with goons,if you want to see me alive u have to pull the chain"!train came to a halt again,i had baggage and i started running on tracks this time *first and last time*...two guys behind me asking for money...more money...i had given them 1500 till now! i rch the last boogie and the train started moving...last call to ashu - pull the chain again,i am near the last boogie which is a woman general compartment...get down and the next station and pick me up...my battery gave up..

Managed to climb the train,those two men were behind me and kept on asking for money...had given them 2k by now...Indian women are really strong,realised it that day!As soon as the women in that general compartment realised that these guys were bothering me...they shooed them away!For the first time i realised how vulnerable I am!i sat in the compartment praying all the time and thanking God for the women compartment...ya i actually did!

The train reached thane in 45 mins and i jumped onto the platform...ashu and advika were on the platform...i ran and hugged them with tears rolling down and some scratches here and there because of all the jumping and running i did...it was blessing to see them again and to be with them after what seem to be life after death!!

Somehow the rendezvous with that particular station has been always been scary.We went to nagpur this time around for my cousin’s engagement and jst to reach in time I left office early to board a 8.00 pm *it turned out to be 8.30* train. I reached that damn place at 6.30!! I called up V and just asked him to join me there…ashu wld have taken atleast an hr to reach,since he had to pick up advika. V and M came all the way just to accompany me ...friends do make a lot of difference to your life!!

Punjab Di Shaadi

Before i go in for the next tag,would want to write about my recent trip to chandigarh for a RK's wedding with KJ,MV and VD. This trip was so rejuvenating and fun filled that i found an old me meeting this new me.

We did our bookings in a v economical way coz this was a personal expense and had to be a low budget trip. We booked ourselves on Rajdhani express. Rajdhani is an express train in literal sense as well,coz it starts at mumbai central and takes its first stop at Surat!phew! We reached on-time.Ashu came to hand-over my baggage to the station.The very thought that i would be leaving Ashu and advika for good 6 days was frightening and i really didnt want to go.But i had to stick to it coz to attend RK's shaadi was team decision and had to be adhered too.I almost cried while saying bye to ashu and i knew he would be missing me lot over the weekend.As i joined the gang in our coach,these guys had already settled and had kept a place for me.KJ had got cards and insisted on playing. So we started with rhyme but VD was embarassing with the game! he actually had to take neighbours advice on it! so we decided to get to next game,the big fool game! This card game stuck with us all through our 6 day trip.It became d highlight.

After reaching delhi,we had some 5 hrs in between getting onto the chandigarh shatabdi express.We thought of utilisiing the time shopping at janpath!so we went to shove the luggage at the cloak room,which was infested with huge adamant rats.But we didn't have any options.We had RK's goofy phone with us,which the cloak room officals refused to keep!huh! now what...we had to carry it.Delhi was some 18 odd degree then,hardly any cold by Delhi standards! we were stranded at new delhi station with our laptops and goofy phone! We thought of going for a movie but were not allowed with a goofy phone.So VD had an Big dea of going to Jantar Mantar and spending time there! It was maddening,in my 3 yrs at Delhi i had never bothered to go to this place and now we were sitting in Jantar Mantar and spending leisure time.Just couldn't believe it. I shopped at "W" to get the bag to carry the goofy phone and VD's fren charan came over to make us eat good khana at a dhaba.It was entertaining.



We finally boarded the train to chandigarh at 4.30! KJ wanted to see DDLJ's sarso ke khet so she was sitting all alone near the window and VD was tired and was snoring.. we shot VD snoring!LOL!


We reached chandigarh at 8.30 and as soon as we were out it was spine chilling! We reached RK's place and started dancing along with his relatives and VD started boozing.Poor guy didn't know what was instored for him!RK's college frens literally made him drink neat and that too half bottle of smrin off!oops he was difficult after that!


Next day morning,we decided to shop and had to reach RK's place for breakfast.VD had to have 6 parathas for breakfast!we had to skip lunch after the breakfast.We decided to go to sector -17 and we shopped for good 6 hours at leisure.The rickshaw ride to sector -17 was chilly!but we did enjoy it a lot.



That evening was shaadi,so we went back got dressed and went to the shaadi.It was freezing and shaadi was on the farm house!!!!We danced with the barat and started eating...the end was not to come soon.We had pani puri,kababs,drinks and almost everything one could have thought on the planet to eat.

Next day was planned at Kasauli! Nature brings you so near to GOD! We played antakshari all our way and back...it was kiddish but will never forget the nimbooda song :)! We climbed to monkey point 500m and view from monkey point makes you just forget almost everything on the earth! Peace,tranquality and clamness.It was a blessing to be at that place.On our way back we had food at Gyani Da Dhaba- Amazing saag and makai roti *punjab is all about food,fun and dance*


Reception in the evening was again all about dance,food and fun.Next day we had a train back to delhi.Caught sleeping were KJ and MV this time.



It was shopping time in delhi- dilli haat,SN! We shopped till drop dead!Back to mumbai and to ashu and advika!But this trip will be missed always!

Reshma blessed me! This blog page is so much because of her, if it wouldn’t have been for her i wouldn’t have got to writing and the excuse would have been i don't have time, however clichéd and lame as it may sound.

This is difficult one!One thing!what that can be? i am very possessive about my clothes,gifts ashu gives me,my cellphone,my footwears.But to point out one thing is rather difficult.The russian dolls i got from causway,the ganpati idol reshma gave me on her shaadi,a sindoor dani yuga gifted,the first gift ashu gave me(sliver pendnant)all are treasured possessions and are guarded like life.They travel with me wherever i go.

But one thing that tops all of it,is a poster ashu gifted me when we were still dating.I loved it the moment i saw it.Sadly though,its no more with me.and i miss having it at this moment also and to my surprise its not even on any site anymore.

The poster was huge- covered half of my hostel wall.It had some 15 puppies sitting on the rim of a sofa!something similar to the image below:


And the puppies were looking/staring at a couple smooching!The couple's face couldn't be made out!But they are so engrossed that they are hardly bothered about the puppies.The image was starking combination of innocence and straightforwardness!I just loved it!

Simple things that make me happy!

2. Ashu doing wierd things like getting a big white flower for me.
3. My dance lessons - i cherish them like nothing
4. Dance floor with loud desi music and frens to dance with.

7. KJ's innocent questions and weird explanations (post on KJ soon)
8. Mom made food.
9. Reshma's calls/mails. i get happy even if i see her online...miss u babes!
10. Reading a good book!
11. Meeting a like minded person (its rare)
12. Giggling over nothing at all with M,V and KJ
13. Teasing KJ and VD and defending M and for arbit reasons and arbit things.
14. When Advika's teacher writes "excellent" on her scrapbook.
